Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) for Pipelines
Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) is an advanced mechanised non-destructive examination methodology engineered for rapid, exceptionally reliable girth weld inspection of onshore cross-country and offshore pipelines, providing a superior, non-radiographic alternative to industrial radiography.
With scanning speeds reaching up to 100 mm per second, a complete 36-inch diameter girth weld can be fully evaluated and recorded in under four minutes. AUT leverages multi-channel phased array and TOFD acoustic configurations to detect planar defects, such as Lack of Fusion (LOF) and Lack of Penetration (LOP), with unmatched volumetric sensitivity.
Instant digitized results provide immediate real-time feedback to automated welding crews, substantially decreasing repair rates whilst eliminating ionising radiation exclusion zones. The system conforms stringently to ASTM E-1961, DNV-OS-F101, and API 1104 standards.
